GALACTIC EMPIRE – STATE OF MIND(COLLEGEHUMOUR)

HoN – PC game that all of DoTa players heard about and just can’t wait to play the open beta. At the moment there’s closed one and luckily I got my hands on a betakey so I can try it out. One hour of gameplay and options browsing, already made my decision to take a look at this game on my Blog.

So how was it? Damn awesome! Everything you’d like in your DoTa is here – Hotkeys which you can set in-game for both inventory and skills, anti-leavers servers, new, far better graphics and animation, smooth movements(game goes faster) and Heroes changes (New ones, based on the old ones, some of them are completely same, like Rikimaru). But that’s beta, we can enjoy it, but sooner or later we will have to PAY for it, so the question is – Do we need all these changes to enjoy ‘DoTa’? Or should we just stay in our oldschool DoTa?

Well, there’s a lot to consider, so at the moment I’m just introducing new category, later on I will create more posts about differences and improvements.

Okay, so I played L4D2 some more and finally I’m able to tell something more about stuff I wasn’t certain about, plus I learned that there are many references and easter eggs included, as expected in Valve’s game. So let’s start with some explanation about special infected.

Spitter – It wasn’t hard to guess that the spit takes more dmg the longer someone stands on it, but actually the thing is – the longer it’s on the ground, the more dmg it takes. You can avoid running in it for 3sec and then suddenly run through it, ta~dah! -20hp. There’s interesting bug that when Smoker pulls survivor above the ground and Spitter spits under the feet, he/she still takes the damage! Appearently damage done is bigger than we can see.

Smoker – I found it quite imba that on the first campaign, first map you can pull survivors through the fire(there’s that room filled with smoke and fire everywhere) which kills them damn fast and it’s pretty much impossible to resurrect them as running in would mean you’d die also. Smoker is the most useful here, but Jockey and Charger are also capable of doing that, even though they’ll die right after knocking survivor down.

Tank – There’s still bug that sometimes tank can spawn TWICE. I still don’t know what causes it, but it surely hurts once it happens. For one side atleast. I’d like to mention, that if you’re not focused on by tank, try meleeing it, incredibly effective.

Jockey - I liked it at first, but now I realised that when I get it at the beginning of the map, I’m going ‘FFFUUUUU!’ as there’s no use for it, unless survivors are total noobs and in that case, you can catch one and lead him to the end of the map while others fight at the very beginning. The power of Jockey lies in bridges, fire, windows etc., although jumping on survivors just to miss and fall off the window yourself can be damn funny. Oh btw. I found some ‘Jockey sounds compilation‘, just as creepy as funny!

Charger – I found nothing new about this one, nor there is anything to tell about, expect for the fact that you deal a lot of dmg just by right-clicking (normal hit), so it’s wise not to blindly charge sometimes. (Especially when they’re low hp, getting close to them, hitting one down, and then charging someone else – way to go!)

That’s it about special infected, now let’s focus about Easter Eggs! Few of these were found already:

1. Hidden Jimmy Gibbs Jr. Zombie


On one of the maps you have to fuel the car, Jimmy Gibbs Jr.’s car actually. The thing is, you don’t see him as a zombie unless you type in some commands in the console:

You do that and Jimmy Gibbs Jr. zombie will spawn. Of course, he’s not common, but a bit stronger and also it’s supposed to make survivors say some special lines.

2. Midnight Riders

In fact, the band doesn’t exist, but still all across the Dark Carnival campaign you get to see posters and even damn concert-hall with Midnight Riders on it, presenting 4 members and even an URL to a website www.midnight-riders.com, which includes some random posts, as if the band was really living in the L4D2′s fictional world, also album songs list and even link to a channel on YouTube, including two songs! So again, Valve went through all the trouble to amuse us, and surely did, as Midnight Riders is supposed to be up-coming DLC! The only real thing on this site is actually Store, lol.

3. Garden Gnome

I’ve got no idea where to get it, just that it’s in the Dark Carnival campaign and as it was in Half-Life 2 : Episode 2, you can take it all the way to the end of the map to unlock an achievment.

4. G-G-G-Grabbin’ P-.. Louis!

In the saferoom of one of the maps in campaign Hard Rain you can see that on a wall:

Haven’t found her, but I heard she can be found in the Dark Carnival campaign and appearently is under age of 18. Pedozombies are restless.

*The Magnum has ’1337 WEAPON INDUSTRIES (yOgi) PWN – Made in Shyville’ engraved on the side of it.
*The Jukebox in the corner-shop of The Parish plays Still Alive when fiddled with enough. (Another Jukebox can be found Swamp Fever, which plays the same songs. Both of these also play ‘Re: Your Brains’. When this song reaches it’s chorus, it summons a horde.)

As always, humour and easter-eggs are on a high level. There are many things to do in L4D2, even if it’s not for playing, just toying with commands and maps you can find some interesting stuff. Well, fits Valve, they know how to make things worthwhile.

Soon there’ll be Christmas, the time we all love for its peaceful and joyful nature, filled with kindness, happiness, love and other shiny stuff… Right?

HELL NO!…

The truth is, that the time of X-mas for players is actually the time of FFFUUU-xmas, as it’s full of hardcore flaming, torment of playing with every possible noob which was supposed to be at school and instead they’re in your dotaz stealing ur christmaz. So what’s the problem with them? That’s quite obvious:

- They’re everywhere – Garena rooms are full of them, once you join one, you can see a whole spam of DarkAngels13, , 1C33FR00Gs, S3XY_PR0s, XXSEPHIROTTHHXXs, SAS00KE_UCHIH4 and other awesome players you just can’t ignore and have to welcome with your warm speech, usually limited to only few words – ‘HEY THAT GUY IS A LEAVER OMG KICK‘.

- They’re… Fuck! They’re even here! – Trying to escape to a high level room? HOW NAIVE! They were using AFK Garena Map for a whole year just to get in there now.

- They’re fast – FIRST BLOOD!

Apart from this awesome kind of players who are instructive, funny, clever and overall fast-to-act(sarcasm is going over 9k at this point), during X-mas you can expect everything to be slow, crowded and your only possible in-game gift will be an Axe with battle hunger on a lane, also you can expect colourful mini-map, which actually will be spammed with dots, as players mentioned above love to show everything that they notice to move, in some RATHER ANNOYING cases – where they expect things to move.

So, like many of us can’t wait for this long time of freedom and tranquility, players should be aware that it’s actually the worst possible school/work free time, as instead of going on the beach, you can expect all of these energetic kiddos to be right by your side. Hell of a motivation post, but let’s face it – Skiing suddenly sounds like an awesome idea.

The answer to that TOPIC is… Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2… As feared. Damn, here goes the chance for a good new online Star Wars game, too bad.

Well, hopefully it won’t be on 20 DVDs and about 5hours gameplay.

What about ‘Luke Skywalker has OCD‘? (obsessive-compulsive disorder) Flawless edition, the way the characters look in the Luke’s direction and his face at the end, made that vid atleast awesome.

Videos were made by OneMuniteGalactica, he made lots more, but only these two caught my attention.

This time I’m posting to inform about it instead of writing results, so getting to the subject – PUG will take place day after tomorrow on Saturday the 12th – 5PM (GMT+0).

Maps: Destroyer, Tradefed and Deathstar.

Deranged Corsairs invite everyone, to make sure you get a hot spot come to the ‘……….o_O‘ server sooner, after all it’s a nice occasion to play some team-play mb2 even if you’re clanless. (Woohooo!)

Apart from that, tomorrow in the evening on the same server you can play with the old points system that I mentioned in MB2 page – so basically you start off with 4 and with every round you gain more and more points.

There’s also possibility that after one of these events we will play Deranged Arena, so make sure you stay for some hawt lulz battles!

If you play DoTa you surely ran into Axe pickers many times already, so did I, and I’m wondering where the hell ALL OF THEM find this useless, brainless way of playing that hero.

How do we recognise Axe pickers? Uh… They pick Axe, but the magic lies in what happens later…

Early Stage of Pr0Axe development:

First, Pr0Axes get stout shield, maybe some tango(Rarity over 9k) or simply another stout shield, then head in the battlefield. They pick two skills: Battle Hunger and Counter Helix. Of course, there’s no use in taking Taunt skill, it makes people attack you! IT’S BAD! What about Battle Hunger? IT KILLS PEOPLE! YAYAYAYAYYA.. (Too bad only two kinds – unlucky ones and retards)At this point, Pr0Axe already smell conspiracy around them, which is obviously organised by their teammates, which are sooo damn jealous of this Pr0Axe build, that they keep whining, saying unpleasant stuff about them rushing and suiciding, WHICH IS NOT TRUE, as they just try to kill opponents on the first level. They usually keep dying on the first levels, just to …

Middle Stage of Pr0Axe development:

… Farm forest for the next 20-30 mins. Obviously, in the process they get even more deaths by running on the lane to ambush enemies with half HP, too bad, that even if they ulti-kill someone, they still always die, why? Because Mid-game Pr0Axe inventory looks like it :
- Vanguard
- Ring of health, Stout shield
- Everything but no Boots
And they don’t really realise that they don’t have way to escape, and vanguard doesn’t really give this Hero immortality (Pr0Axe goes WTF? at this point)

And now in Late Mid Game, what does Pr0Axe do? Whine. They farmed items, have these two vanguards and maybe even something else, and because of that they feel like commanding everyone. ‘OMG NOOBS WHY NOT RUN IM PLAY ALONE’ – motivating speech example, or ‘ALL MID ! *dies* WTF I SAY ALL MID NOOB TEAM *rageplug* ‘ – Of course, persuading tactics and patience on high level. Nevertheless, some of them just know (?!) that they can’t speak anything else than mere Engrish, therefore stay quiet for the whole game.

Finally, if they survive to the endgame by some miracle, development of Pr0Axe goes all way down from the top, therefore Axe’s endgame items:

Kelen’s Dagger
Boots of Speed

Surprisingly, they still die all the time! Why? Don’t ask me, it’s one big paradox, although I’m quite sure that words ‘brain’ and ‘skill’ are involved.

How does look Teamplay of a Pr0Axe kind? Apart from commanding whole team from their fortress in the Woods, they usually run in massive battles to use their ulti, then they realise they’re red HP, BUT enemy is also… ORANGE HP! Humph! What is that for an Axe?.. Wait.. Why is he running under the tower?!…

Yeah, like that. They suicide throughout the whole game, just to get these few Ulti/Lucky kills and die afterwards. Still, their builds depend ALL ON SURVIVAL, so it’s basically – Run in, kill something – Run away with red hp – Count that your teammates will run out of nowhere and save you – If they do that and fail you can whine – If they don’t do it at all you should plug. That’s about it, quite schematic huh? Still, almost all of them act this way, as if they weren’t PRO players. Oh wait.
